We believe that all children and young people should have a voice. Behind every child or young person we work with there is a story, which they are best placed to tell. They might not have decided the beginning, or the middle, but they can re-write the ending.

includem welcomes new Chair

FIRST POSTED ON APRIL 9 2020 AT 11:34

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Iain Forbes as our new Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Former Managing Director of The Herald and Evening Times, Iain takes on the role after a career spent supporting a number of third sector organisations.

His last position before retiring in 2018 was as chief executive of the Scottish Mentoring Network (SMN) and he has previously chaired various charities including the Glasgow Education Business Partnership, Glasgow Childcare Partnership and Variety Scotland children’s charity.

During his time managing SMN, Iain helped develop the effective use of mentoring across various sectors and in particular for those considered amongst the most vulnerable in Scotland. He was heavily involved with the Scottish Government in two major national initiatives in using mentoring to help reduce re-offending among women and persistent young male offenders and in a long-term mentoring programme for Looked After Children and Young People.

Passionate about people of all ages being given the opportunity to optimise their potential, Iain said:

“l am immensely proud to be joining the team at includem to chair a very experienced and knowledgeable board. I am looking forward to working with their dedicated staff to secure and develop a positive future for the organisation.

“Supporting the young people includem works with was the main driving force for applying for this role. Whenever the coronavirus pandemic is behind us and we are able to get back to some form of normality there will be challenges for all sectors, but I know the leadership team at includem will be able to adapt as required to ensure the crucial support they provide to young people continues.”

Our Chief Executive, Martin Dorchester said:

“We are delighted that Iain will be joining us. He has a wealth of experience in all the areas we are keen to develop and expand and will be a real asset for the organisation.”
