Opportunities for Change
Includem Edinburgh and the Lothians is excited to be involved in a new pilot project which was launched at the beginning of October 2008.
Opportunities for Change is a Community Justice Authority pilot project developed to better meet the needs of young offenders when they appear before the Sherriff Court.
The project is delivered by Includem and Venture Trust and recognises the difficulty for young offender's in transition between children's and adult services. It aims to provide a robust and effective option to the Court when young people have exhausted other community based disposals. The project combines intensive community support with wilderness based personal development and is imposed as a condition of a Probation Order for a 6 month period.
The project has been developed in partnership with City of Edinburgh Council, The Scottish Borders Council, West Lothian Council, Midlothian Council, East Lothian Council, SCRA, SPS, Includem and Venture Trust.
