Edinburgh and the Lothians
Each of our services is designed to create bespoke packages of support to meet the individual needs of young people.
We work closely with local authorities, families and carers and other agencies and partners who can help to meet the needs of young people.
Opportunities for Change
Includem Edinburgh and the Lothians is excited to to be involved in a new pilot project which was launched at the beginning of October.
Opportunities for change is a Community Justice Authority pilot project developed to better the needs of young offenders when they appear before the Sherriff Court.
Many of these young people will have been or still be the subject to Children's Hearing 'supervision' and have experienced secure accommodation. The project recognises the difficulty for young offender's in transition between children's and adult services and aims to provide a robust and effective alternative to custody.
The project has been developed in partnership with City of Edinburgh Council, The Scottish Borders Council, West Lothian Council, Midlothian Council, East Lothian Council, SCRA, SPS, Includem and Venture Trust.
For further information please contact Claire Gibson, Project Co-ordinator for Opportunities for Change, 0131 652 2555.
Our Home Support Service aims to prevent young people in vulnerable families becoming involved in more formal measures of care.
Our Community Intensive Support Service works with chaotic young people who are persistent offenders.
Our Young Women’s Intensive Support Service recognises the special needs of some of Edinburgh’s most chaotic young women, a small but immensely vulnerable group.
We provide Intensive Support as a key partner in Edinburgh City Council’s Intensive Support and Monitoring Service. This is a direct alternative to secure care.
All Includem services in the area include access to the Includem Edinburgh and Lothians Helpline, linked locally to a staff member on call who will know the young person and their circumstances. Where required and with management agreement, staff will go out at any time to support a young person in crisis.
